Gustav

My nephew,Sean, goes to school in Mobile, AL at Spring Hill College. Since Gustav is moving in they are closing school until Wednesday. Sean is going with one of his friend to Huntsville, AL to wait out the storm. They are in pretty heavy traffic driving there now. Let's remember to keep all of the storm victims in our prayers.

Aquaport

Took Shayne and his buddy Tyler to Aquaport today. It was a perfect day. Not too hot, actually perfect for swimming. I got to relax and read. I also fell asleep for awhile. And even spent time in the lazy river and went down one slide with Shayne in a double raft. It was a lot of fun. Nice way to end the summer. We're hoping to squeeze in one more day there before it closes for the season.

Shayne seems to be doing ok in school. Not much homework yet. He's been very responsible with turning in ALL the papers I had to sign. Seems like at least one every day. He really is enjoying Middle School so far.

Noah

Little Noah passed away on Saturday. A day shy of his 1st birthday. Please pray for his parents, Deb and Josh. I can't imagine what they are going through. Even though I don't know them personally I just hurt so much for them. Their faith is incredible to me.

Last weekend.

We squeezed in lots of things last weekend and really enjoyed spending time with my niece Kelly and her family. We don't get to see them as often as I would like. We also had a baby shower for Andrea since Kelly and my sister Vicki were in town. We ended our week with a trip to the Botanical Gardens. It was my 1st time there and I loved it. It's a very beautiful place. It was a nice weekend before getting back into the swing of school again. I may post more pictures later. I only took at least 100.

New Beginnings

Shayne started Middle School today. I am so torn up about this. It just doesn't seem like he should be this old already. Starting 6th grade. He was scared this morning getting on the bus. I've been praying for him all day and anxiously await his return home to hear all about his day. I'll post an update later.

Update: things went well for Shayne today. He says he like switching classes. He was happy to come home without any homework. The only glitch today was his schedule and that wasn't his fault. It had to be tweeked and he'll have a new one tomorrow. Hopefully not too confusing for him.

Please Pray

I added a new link to the blogs I read. I found this family, the Lauers, from my friend Michelle's blog. I have been so touched by their story. Their little son, Noah, is a very sick little boy and needs lots of prayers. So does his Mom and Dad. I wanted to share his story with all of you and ask you to pray for him too.

Yes, we were CRAZY

So, we went to Six Flags on Tuesday. The hottest day of the year so far. It was miserable. Jeff stayed in the water park and Shayne and I took off to ride some rides. We rode 3 and decided we were ready for the water park too. You couldn't even just sit in a chair without sweat rolling off of you. I spent most of my time just sitting in the water. We did have fun but we didn't stay as long as we usually would have. Plus it was crowded too. A lot of other people were CRAZY too!!

One Week Left

Wow! It's hard to believe that this will be our last full week left of summer before school starts. We ended this week bowling with a bunch of kiddos that we used to have playgroup with when Shayne was in preschool. That was fun. A lot of them have moved away from the area because of the airport buyout. I didn't take my camera.

This week we are heading to 6 Flags. Tuesday....which is suppose to be very HOT!!! Guess we'll spend lots of time in the waterpark. Shayne got a free ticket from school for reading and it expires on Wednesday so we don't have a choice. I have no doubt that we'll have fun anyway!!

Not sure what the rest of our week will be like. We are excited because my niece Kelly and her family will be coming in on Thursday. We get to meet baby Jude. My sister Vicki is coming on on Tuesday. It'll be nice to have more family around. I'm sure it'll keep us busy.
