Living Museum

Today 5th grade had a living museum. Each student did a report on a person of their choice, made a presentation board and dressed as their person. All of the students in the school came through to see them. It was a very neat experience. Lots of characters. Neil Armstrong, Stan Muscial (sp), Samuel Clemons, Sacajawea, etc. Shayne's report was about James McDonnell. He was the founder of McDonnell Aircraft, now Boeing.
Mrs. Rameys' 1st graders with Shayne. She was his 1st grade teacher. We love her.
Shayne's good buddy, Adrian, was Dwight Eisenhower.

100% day

Today was another 100% day for Shayne. He gets so proud of himself. He's been doing so much better and his self confidence has increased tons. I credit it all to the praying that he and I have been doing. Tomorrow Shayne has a special event at school so look for pictures soon.

Arrow of Light

My Webelos earned their Arrow of Light. That is the highest honor in Cub Scouting. At the Blue and Gold banquet there was an awesome ceremony. The boys loved it. Shayne even decided to continue into Boy Scouts. He was thinking about quiting. They are so proud of themselves and I am proud of them. My days of Scout leader are over now. Good job boys!! It's been fun.

Conference Day

We had Shayne's 2nd trimester conference. I have to admit I was very nervous going in ,but I left pleasantly pleased. He is showing a ton of improvement. Still needs to do more, but things are improving. His main reason for having a low grade was just because he didn't turn in an assignment. He got a big pep talk from his teacher and she praised him and told him she was very proud of his efforts. Overall, it was a good conference. He still has a goal of doing 70% of his work each day which for the past 5 days he's done exceedingly well. He's a very smart kid just needs motivation!! Not staying after school is a great motivation. Keep praying for him...he's still praying too. He's been a different kid the past week, had a great attitude, gotten along with the kids in his room and worked hard. I'm very proud!!

A Special Lady

We lost another special lady today. Earlene passed away about 6:00 this morning. She was such a special part of Jeff's life and I hurt for him and her family. They lived next door to Jeff as he grew up and he spent as much time with them as he did his own family. He loved her dearly. We'll miss you Earlene.

100%

It was an awesome day at school for Shayne today. He did 100% of his work!!! He is so proud of himself. He's learning that those prayers are working but God can't do it by Himself, Shayne has to have a good attitude and do his work and let God help him. I'm loving this lesson. I'm so thankful God is in the situation.
On a sad note, Shayne's assistant principal from last year, Carrie Powell passed away yesterday. We loved her. She was diagnosed with cancer in Oct and pregnant. She delivered that baby, Jackson and he is thriving. She also has a 4 year old precious little girl, Jayden. We are hurting so much for her family right now.
Another sad note, Jeff's best friend's mother is in DePaul in ICU with a blood infection. She is very bad and they've called in the family. Chris, Jeff's BF is coming in from the Lake of the Ozarks. Jeff is very upset over this situation. Please keep both of these situations in your prayers.
Thanks.

Some help from God

Well, this has been a rough week for Shayne at school. Monday through Wednesday he's had to stay after for not reaching his goal of doing 70% of his work. Last night we talked about praying to God and asking for his help. When he got out of his shower he said that he'd been praying to God asking Him for 3 things and one of those was to help him at school Thursday. He said it was a combo prayer and that God liked those kind. Then at bedtime we both prayed together, silently for God to help him and then when I dropped him off today I could tell he was praying while we were pulling up to school. All day I prayed to God asking him to please show my son that he is there to answer his prayers. So at 3:35 the normal time that Shayne calls with the bad news, the phone rings and it's him and he sounds all sad and tells me that he has detention. But after he said that I could hear him making a strange noise and asked him if he was laughing or crying. He started laughing and said that today he did 93% and he's been wanting to call me and trick me for awhile. I have to say that I really enjoyed that phone call. When I went to pick him up I thanked God for helping out today and teaching Shayne that He is there watching over him. Hopefully he'll never forget that lesson.

Shayne loves snow

Shayne spent a long time out in the snow today. I didn't get any good picutres though. The picture of legs is Shayne and his friend Tyler digging a tunnel to each other in a huge pile of snow. They met in the middle. Shayne stayed out for at least 3 hours. It was a good snow day!!

Star loves snow

Star has had more fun playing outside in the snow. She found an old shoe and has been running around the backyard with it. Shayne is up the street sledding so I can't get any pictures of him yet.
